Abstract:Casting an eye over the fast-moving world of electronic banking the author takes a controversial view on the threat to banks from non-bank operators, such as computer giants, if allowed to dominate electronic banking. In the Banker's April Viewpoint, Frank Wobst, Chairman of Huntington Bankshares of Columbus, Ohio, and Chairman of the Banking Industry Technology Secretariat, warned that non-bank dominance of electronic banking must be kept in check and standards imposed.
