Abstract:Development banks have been increasingly turning their attention to encouraging private sector finance to fund projects. Apart from this global trend, the banks are affected by regional economic issues. The new trend among multilateral and regional development banks is spreading. The World Bank led the way to the concept that, rather than necessarily acting as major development financing sources in their own right, the banks should aim to function as catalysts to help and encourage private sector finance for needed projects.
