| Abstract: | The development targets of Northeast economic zone as the centre of Northeast Asia are to turn itself into a national important heavy industrial base and a major base of producing grain, log, beet and animal products. Equipped with modern technology, the heavy industrial base will be set up by technological transformation and through the construction for forming a complete system. It will take iron and steel, petrochemical, metallurgic, and mechanical and electrical equipment, auto manufacturing, and forest industries as the leading ones. The key points of development during the Ninth five-year Plan period are to promote export-oriented regional economy, participate in the international co-operation in Northeast-Asia, accelerate the transformation of old industrial bases and raise the technological level of the above industries. |
