Abstract:The paper aims at exploring whether the knowledge management (KM) practices deployed by a multinational consultancy differ as to the national context of their implementation and whether the practices deployed are effective in diffusing consultancy knowledge. Based on a case study of one of the "Big Four" consultancy firms, as to one part of the business operating in the U.K. and the Netherlands, there are strong similarities found over the ways in which the case study firm manages its intellectual capital in both of the above mentioned countries. This convergence in practices supports the notion that consultancies often copy practices having proved successful to avoid uncertainty and the risk of being out of step with their competitors/counterparts. Furthermore, the results discovered a number of problems with the practices deployed etc.
