Abstract:This exploratory cognitive study aims to uncover the way that opinion leaders, such as CEOs and other authorities in the domain of social issues in management, understand and differentiate the various concepts of corporate governance, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and business ethics. Using the Repertory Grid Technique (RGT), the analysis is extended to the complete spectrum of social issues in management by conducting 41 RGT interviews with top experts and CEOs of Belgian economy and civil society. It was found that both authorities and CEOs clearly differentiate the various concepts of corporate governance, CSR, and business ethics. No paradigm has been achieved in the business and social field, although CRS is seen as a strong candidate for an umbrella term.
