Abstract:Non-financial performance indicators are becoming as important as financial information for managers keen to control day to day operations. A recent study has found evidence of an increasing use of non-financial performance measures in businesses' day to day decision making. The original impetus for this study was interest in the impact of external reporting requirements on management decision making, following claims that management had become subservient to the requirements of financial reporting.
