| Abstract: | The article presents a specific information portfolio analysis to develop different kinds of information strategies which are suitable to support competitive strategies. The empirical relevance of such strategies as "defensive strategy" or "intensive development strategy" has been tested. There is a positive correlation between the competitive position of a company and the information intensity. Using Porter's classification of generic competitive strategies it can be shown that the aspiration level of the information strategy grows from cost focus via cost leader and differentiation up to differentiation focus. In many firms relevant tasks of information management are not well established. |
