Abstract:The commercial paper (CP) program in the Netherlands has eventually started to work despite traditional Dutch caution and conservatism. Dutch banks played a significant role in bringing this innovation to the local capital market. AMRO (Amsterdam-Rotterdam Bank) persuaded the hesitating railway company that it was very cost-efficient to rely on commercial papers.
