Abstract:Based on a sample of 283 subsidiaries in three countries, it is examined how headquarters' attention affects subsidiary performance. This study presents that subsidiaries that have more strategic choice and get attention from headquarters perform better than others. More precisely, it is discovered that the interactions of subsidiaries' autonomy, inter-unit power and initiatives with attention raise subsidiary performance.
