| Abstract: | This editorial is a lead-in to the debate about private equity (hereafter as PE) market published in this issue. The article reviews the historical development of European PE markets paying particular attention to leveraged buyouts (hereafter as LBO), that are one important type of high risk and high return investments. Also the current state of LBO and PE markets are considered. |
