| Abstract: | Simultaneous Engineering (SE) is a widely accepted way of accelerating product development, which is nowadays an indispensible condition for gaining advantage in market competition. A German consulting firm has carried out an inquiry in order to get a survey about the state-of-the-art of Simultaneous Engineering in Germany. The results show that the degrees of application of SE and the successes attained by it are still very different. In the introduction of SE considerable hurdles must be overcome. Based on the results, the article analyses the preconditions of introduction and the possible returns of SE. |
