| Abstract: | David Adnum looks at performance indicators in not-for-profit organisations and suggests that their use for operational control purposes will require certain safeguards to ensure that managers maintain a quality ethos and do not try to get performance 'right' according to selected indicators. The Citizen's Charter may well have set the content for better public sector management but a good knowledge of the 'practical' use of performance indicators is essential if its promise is to be fulfilled. |
