| Abstract: | In arenas, such as trade policy where economist's analyses seemed to go largely unheeded, political-economy models were developed. In those models, economic motives of self-interest influence politician's choices of policies and policy instruments. Discussed in this paper are political-economic interaction under import substitution, the virtuous circle under an outer-oriented trade strategy and political-economic interactions in other markets. |
