Abstract:Return on investment is a critical measure when appraising IT projects. But it is just as important to gauge the total contribution to an organization's goals and then to manage the benefits so they are reflected in the bottom line. Business managers have been avoiding active involvement in IT decisions for decades because so many IT projects defy formal cost-benefit analysis. Today's financial manager must have more of an IT background than a training course in Lotus1-2-3.
