| Abstract: | The trade and welfare effects of economic integration have become the subject of intensive investigation in the last 30 years, after the formation of the EC and EFTA. Considerable work has also been done for Greece, where the trade effects of Common Market membership are of great concern to policy markers, mainly for balance of payments considerations, since the latter is severe constrained to the country's economic expansion. Nearly all studies, however, give emphasis to tariff realignment, while non-tariff barriers have been somewhat neglected. |
