| Abstract: | Privatization of municipally owned retail stores, service providers, and food establishments continues in Latvia. To date, 706 such establishments have been privatized. How are these stores faring in private hands? What kind of problems are they facing? The Adidas store in Riga, opened last September, provides a peek into the developing free market retail trade in Latvia. The Adidas store in Riga was established by the Latvian-German joint venture Solis, which won out over two other companies in a competition to obtain exclusive dealership rights for Adidas products in the capital city. |
