| Abstract: | The role of two types of involvement; cognitive and emotional was examined in two local news effects: information holding and parasocial interaction with local newscasters. Adult local news viewers (N=305) completed questionnaires. Hierarchical multiple regression assessed the significance of viewing motives, attitudes, and cognitive and emotional involvement.Information holding was explained by indications of cognitive involvement while parasocial interaction was linked to emotional reactions to news. |
