Abstract:The article deals with the debate over the broadcast coverage of Irish terrorism with special regard to public broadcasting's independence from the government. The link between access to the screen and government approval is also discussed. A documentary of Thames Television on the Irish affairs caused a conflict between broadcasters and government.
