Abstract:Ten years ago, few managers thought of education as a business issue. Today, most agree that the quality of a society's schools has a direct impact on the quality of its companies. Only the most forward-looking executives see it today, but ten years from now most U.S. managers will also understand how another social issue affects their ability to compete: the problem of American poverty.
