Abstract:In recent years, few industries have undergone more convulsive change than the transportation industry. Leading the list of companies buffeted by unfamiliar market pressures and the aftereffects of deregulation is Union Pacific Railroad. The 131 year old company has emerged from several years of turmoil with an impressive story about making tough choices and prevailing despite daunting challenges.
