| Abstract: | ACE, Inc. a highly leveraged manufacturing company, was successful for a number of years. But early in 1990 profits began to fade. ACE had never undertaken any formal longe range strategic planning. Convern over its financial situation prompted the board of directors to ask the CEO to submit a formal 5 year strategic plan. Among the plan's unusual features: a dual approach to maximizing shareholder value, and a momentum plan. |
