| Abstract: | While the 'rocks in the stream' approach to JIT process improvement by a systematic reduction of inventory levels has great intrinsic appeal, it brings with it a potential for high risk, both in customer service and a lack of consistency with existing performance evaluation and measurement systems. This article is a description of an approach to utilize the basic concepts of the inventory reduction JIT process improvement model while avoiding or minimizing the associated risks from that activity. |
