Abstract: | Control is a generic term for all of the rules and procedures used in manufacturing. This includes all aspects of scheduling, just-in-time techniques, total quality control, labor reporting and all forms of computerization. These techniques accomplish their objectives, but not without a cost. This cost is the increase in integration effects, which has a negative impact upon factory performance. Control is a facilitator for managing factory operations and inventory, balance and flexibility are the variables which influence factory performance. |
