| Abstract: | A new method of 'auditing' the personnel function's effectiveness looks at its cost-effectiveness and its contribution to the business, the service it is seen as providing and the way it follows best practice and the law, using a database of information from other organisations. This article explains the method, and describes how a county council has used it. |
