| Abstract: | Historically, strategy formulation has focused on the changes in the external environment. Elements internal to the firm were viewed as strategy implementation mechanisms only. Recent developments in the computerization of process automation have modified this market-based view of strategy. The new technology that has emerged, known as flexible automation (FA), is influencing strategy formulation by requiring for its adoption the use of complementary choices of strategy and structure. |
