Abstract:How receiving a mailed survey fits into the lives of a group of survey recipients is examined using the phenomenological research methodology. Respondents provided protocols that were studied phenomenologically to determine what they thought, felt and did upon receipt of the survey. Insights of how a survey fits into the life world of a respondent are presented along with quotes from the actual protocols. A summary figure modelling the flow of events is included.
