| Abstract: | While volumes have been written about the regulation of banks, comparatively little analysis has been forthcoming about the regulation of non-banking retail financial services. The purpose of this article is to offer a perspective on the regulation of such services. Regulators are effectively supplying regulatory services to the consumer and industry. Costs of regulation are reflected in product prices, which raises different questions. |
