| Abstract: | The author argues that a holistic approach to forecasting, linking intuitive skills with analogical reasoning and pattern recognition, can achieve better results than mathematical modelling. The methodology can be used for forecasting social, political and economic events and has a contribution to make to corporate strategy. The profile of executives who are likely to possess this skill has been identified and may be used in developing this ability. |
