| Abstract: | The introduction of CAPP demands the integration with the CAPP system of the heuristics and working practices of the existing systems. The I-CAM Definition (IDEF) technique, a structured systems analysis methodology, describes the manufacturing organization in a graphical form, and provides the user with a powerful means of analysis and development. This paper focuses on IDEF-O, a generic model of process planning for a batch manufacturing environment. The methodology provides the means of understanding complex manufacturing systems and contributes to the implementation of change. |
