| Abstract: | The ability of FMS to enhance the competitive position of organizations has been well documented. However, empirical research on the operating characteristics of these systems over an extended period is scare. In this study, the performance measures of actual FMS operations were investigated for 3 firms over a 6 years. The performance measures are reported and compared to the firms' goals for the FMS's. The comparisons are included to insure the systems are not only operationally efficient but also effective tools for achieving organizational goals. |
