Abstract:Within OSHA's guidelines, automation is mentioned as one of many detailed engineering controls that can be implemented after hazards have been identified, but solutions such as automation involve high level strategic analysis that should be performed in advance, not as an afterthought. Accordingly, before attempting to implement ergonomic solutions at a detailed level, an employer should first perform a higher level analysis to identify action strategies and select the strategy best suited for each production facility within the company.
