Abstract:Research 1: THE DEFINITION OF THE ELEMENTS AND MEASURES OF THE SLOVENIAN LOGISTICS POLICY The theoretical part of the research work examines certain concepts necessary for the understanding of logistics, its functions and goals as well as the policy for its assertion. The macro-logistic part illustrates the situation of logistics in the Republic of Slovenia and in the Western Europe, the measures and the agents to improve this situation in Slovenia. All this is related to the railway road, sea and air transport, to transport of the natural gas, the intermodal transport, collecting transport and the recording of commodity flows. It also indicates the future role of the Republic of Slovenia in transport. The micro-logistic part deals with the situation of the logistics technology, informatics costs and the organization in the Slovenian companies. In addition, the agents and the measures of these agents are envisaged to approach the logistic situation of the Slovenian companies to the companies of the Western Europe.Research 2: RATIONALIZATION OF LOGISTIC PROCESSES IN THE TRANSMISSION OF MAIL IN THE REPUBLIC OF SLOVENIA The goal of the research was the rationalization of logistic processes in the Joint Post-Telegraph-Telephon Company of Slovenia (abbreviation: JPTTC) with the final intention to: a) reduce costs and b) improve the quality of service. The research regarded only the post-service and its improvement with the intention to approach the Slovenian post-service to the more developed post-service in Western Europe. The research suggested some measures and agents to improve the transport and materials handling of mail.It was proposed to convert the existing 8 main post-centres in Slovenia into 2 main post-centres in Ljubljana and Maribor. It was also argued to introduce the mechanization of letter-sorting in Ljubljana and Maribor. At the end of the work some suggestions were given to the JPTTC for the farther development of the post-service in Slovenia.
