| Abstract: | Frequent changes in schedules, a problem referred to as 'nervousness' is an obstacle to successful implementation of MRP systems. Freezing the master production schedule (MPS) is an effective way of reducing schedule nervousness. This article contains a discussion of the effect of freezing the MPS on cost in multilevel MRP systems under known and uncertain demand conditions, presenting experimental data and using a numerical example to further explain the experimental results. |
