Abstract:During the transition period of our society until now organizational governance as one of two commanding functions in companies has deserved only a small attention. In searching for reasons for this we have to investigate the period between the years 1970 and 1988.In that period the organizational governance was considered only a tool of exclusive political authority which had been denying any possibility of control over it.The results of governance in that period has shown that only a decision for proper social relations, characteristic of truly democratic societies where the avoidance of accountability is not possible, can create a suitable grounds for the development of a good system of governance in our companies. To tolerate a poor system of governance in a country is not only a sign of immature authority but also imposes upon country an unnecessary competitive handicap in international markets. Therefore, we in Slovenia must exploit the fact that our governance system is only in the establishing phase and therefore we must immediately introduce high standards for the conduct of this commanding function.
