Abstract:Is Soviet-type socialism reformable? Debates on this subject have continued for decades. Russia and China, Hungary and Poland - these and other countries demonstrate different routes away from orthodox socialism (communism), and the question of the relative effectiveness of one model or another will remain open until the process of transformation reaches its logical conclusion. The difficult course of post-communist development in russia strengthens the argument of those who advocate the Chinese variant for the implementation of market reforms.
