| Abstract: | Challenges to Hong Kong's finance before and after 1997 will, first of all, come from the mainland, where Shanghai is going to be made a 21st-century international financial center. As a result, Hong Kong is likely to lose its superiorities in the hinder land of the mainland. Asia's three big financial centers are all striving to expand their business and capture more shares of the financial market, which will exert pressure on Hong Kong. Defects and disadvantages of Hong Kong itself are becoming increasingly obvious during constantly-changing financial competition, creating a challenge to itself. |
