Abstract:The development of foreign direct investment in China is roughly divided into 4 stages: 1. the initial stage, 2. steady development stage, 3. high-speed growing stage, 4. the stage of purchasing and merging domestic enterprises with the aid of securities markets. The forth stage is marked by the fact that foreign-controlled holding companies began to be listed on Chinese stock market in the mid of 1995. The influences of foreign direct investment on China's economy are: to facilitate the rapid and sustained economic growth, to make up the insufficient funds for construction, to promote the development of export-oriented economy and the optimization of the structure of export commodities and to accelerate the technological progress and the upgrading of enterprises.
