Abstract:This study extends prior research that examined dimensions employed in audit practice to evaluate job performance. Partners, managers, seniors and staff from all of the Big 6 firms in a major Canadian city used the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to rate seven broad performance dimensions, identified from firm evaluation forms, for different positions in the firm as to their relative importance in determining promotability. The results identify which performance dimensions are considered to be of increasing or decreasing importance.
