| Abstract: | This article contains an analysis of the cell design related part of a nationwide survey of firms that implemented cellular manufacturing. In addition to developing a practice-based classification schema for cell formation methods, the article contains analyses of respondent's data that revealed some interesting findings. The study also reveals that a gap appears to exist between the efforts of academia and the experience of practitioners in their respective attempts to form cells. |
