Abstract: | International competition, world-wide recession and an ever-increasing rate of innovation have resulted in companies both large and small trying to increase their efficiency and quality levels. The apparent success of the Japanese, increasing reliance on technology, the development of contemporary human resource management practices and the use of a variety of quality systems have been put forward as mechanisms for enhancing industries' competitiveness. The effects of the factors associated with the push for increased competitiveness have yet to be fully explored. |
