Abstract: | Asia's fish stocks are dwindling because of over-exploitation and pollution. As fleets compete for catches, the region may be heading into an era of fish wars. Could aquaculture be the answer? Zhang Sheng Bao sits barefoot on the deck of his sun-drenched fishing boat in Haikou - his gold-plated watch the only thing that glistens aboard his family 's ageing, creaking vessel. "We're not catching much," he asks, glancing out to sea around noon on a recent weekday. "There was much more three or four years ago." |
