| Abstract: | From 1991 to 1995, Guangzhou's actually used foreign funded and its total export volume ranked second only to Shanghai among 10 big cities in China and first in terms of average development speed. The major problems in its development are as follows: sliding-down economic returns, increasing loss-making enterprises, low quality in utilizing foreign investment and slowdown in service trade. This paper suggests that the growth mode be changed to quality- and economic return-oriented one according to the principle of shifting economic growth mode from being extensive to intensive and big-scale economic and trade system be established. It also raises suggestions and countermeasures in 5 aspects including optimizing export commodity composition and enterprises' organizational structure. |
