| Abstract: | Family firms comprise a large proportion of all businesses in the U.S. being an important part of the economy. The former literature shows that such businesses have more conflict or would be more susceptible to conflicts than non-family-owned business. This study's sample is more representative than former ones', and the study found more advantages than disadvantages when compared to similar non-family-owned businesses, and to non-family members of the same firms. If there are problems due to the dual status of being both family and organization member, family members usually find ways to solve, circumvent or ignore such problems. |
