| Abstract: | It is estimated that Hong Kong's overall economic situation in 1997 will be better than last year's and the growth rate of the local total output value will possibly reach 5.5%-6%, a higher level in recent two years. It, no doubt, favours the smooth transition and transfer of political power. As to Hong Kong's economy in a period of time after 1997, its basic trends should continue to keep boom and stability. It will basically ensure that Hong Kong as the international financial, trade, shipping , tourist and information centre will continue to play its proper role in Asia and the Pacific region. |
