| Abstract: | This research constitutes an initial descriptive study of a new market for attestation. The agency model provides a description of the adverse selection problem faced by sponsoring pension fund directors in attempting to verify investment managers' historical investment performance. The Performance Presentation Standards of the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR) provide a response to adverse selection problem by defining accounting standards attestation practices to reduce the information asymmetry faced by fund directors. |
