| Abstract: | This study reviews and critiques positive agency theory and strategic leadership theory, outling their limitations and advantages. Developments in personality theory, visionary leadership theory, and transformational leadership theory can contribute more realistic view of top managers. These perspectives are also contrasted with two more more dominant approaches. Future research directions for those interested in studying strategic leadership are identified. |
