| Abstract: | In an age of entrenched downsizing, it is easy for business to get rid of workers they do not want. But it is harder to hold on to those they do. Organizations are wrestling with how to keep what specialists call 'high potential' workers, those who are critically important and capable, while hiring new ones who will not leave quickly. Strategic staffing aligned with a company's goals is itself becoming a competency. Those who do it well will have a distinctly competitive edge. |
