| Abstract: | There are enough cultural links to make possible that Scandinavia's banks become pan-Nordic players in terms of image and the geographic distribution of their business. Banks in the region are expanding and the question is no longer whether they can become Nordic, but who will get there first. The competition is not just local. Scandinavia's large corporates such as Nokia, Volvo and Ericsson need large investment banks with global reach rather than regional players. The region's banking sector is still recovering from the banking crisis of the early 1990s. |
