Abstract: | Empirical findings reveal a widespread lack of human resource planning. Apparently, corporate agents make their decisions independently of changing environmental conditions This is hard to explain for economists: Such rigidity result in foregone potential improvements of corporate performance. The present paper argues that rigid behaviour can be advan- tageous. When corporate agents act under conditions of high uncertainty the drawback of foregone performance improve- ments is more than offset by a higher reliability of entre- preneurial outcomes. Rigid behaviour reduces the probability of losses that are incurred from wrong decisions. |
