Abstract:Graduates are considered to be a key resource for organizations' long-term development and competitiveness. A British study showed that 50 percent of graduates left their first employer within 5 years, and 20 percent within 2 years. One of the main reasons for graduates' turnover is the lack of opportunity for career development. It would therefore seem essential to develop a better understanding of graduates' career patterns and aspirations. This paper argues that Personal Construct Psychology (PCP) can make an important contribution to our understanding of the way graduates experience their careers.
